Mercedes have set up the best prank of the year for the Netherlands. They decided to interrupt the Dutchies with their daily schedule and terrorized them with the Mercedes F015 in Amsterdam. This resulted into some imagery of the car in action.
The car in question is a Mercedes F015 Luxery in Motion concept car. The futuristic car is already a project back from January 2015, yet the Germans got the car to the Netherlands regarding a informal meeting between transport ministers. They are a little early, though, because the meeting takes place on April the 14th.
If this 5,22 meter long concept car is cool is for you to decide. It is, of course, an electric car and certainly not a supercar, so that wouldn’t work out for me. It is, however, fitted with nearly an unnecessary amount of luxury. Also gadgets can be found in the car.
All of the doors are fitted with a large touchscreen control panel. With this panel you can control what you want to see. For instance, images of your surroundings (windows?), movies, or obstacles surrounding the car. You can also command the car to go faster or slower. The content can then be shared via the car’s own wifi network.
The interior of the concept car is something of a other world. It has 4 very big, turnable seats. This is to have some good conversations with your passengers. To optimize this, nothing is placed on the big flat floor. Although that the car can drive by itself, the seats are in the base in the direction of travel.
The self-driving Mercedes in Amsterdam also had a Mercedes man in the driver seat, but that isn’t necessary. The car could drive itself with the use of an app. This app could call your car and it would roll to your side automatically. When the car arrives, the doors open automatically and the seats turn 30 degrees in order for you to get in easily. A car of the future or a car of the lazy?
